Flash Firefighting Robot Part 2 -- George School 2009 (04:08)
Three of my students (Chun Wang, Checkie Chu, and Eric Engelhardt) have modified a Robodyssey Roach robot for the International Firefighting Competition at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. They call their robot Flash. This is the first time weve entered a walking robot. Eric and Checkie test their wall-following and turning algorithms. Robodyssey Systems manufactures the Roach robot and RAMB II motherboard you see here. The robots brain is NetMedias BX-24 microcontroller, which is programmed using the BasicX language. I am the author of the worlds only BasicX textbook; if you are interested in learning how to program your own robot, see my website at www.basicxandrobotics.com.
