Introduction to PIC Programming

Program Features:

This is a real "hands on" program. We will be building robots from almost "thin air!" We will have to work through the basics of electronics and basic contruction techniques. Each and every step will require constructing new circuits and programs.
We will be using embedded microcontrollers much like the ones running your cell phones and other "intelligent" electronics. When we are done, we will have fully functioning autonomous robot capable of navigating the world all on it's own...(as long as it has fresh batteries of course).

Activities:

Introduction to Electronics Breadboard electronic circuits and integrate with robotic controller.
Software OperationLearn the basics of a PIC compiler and its operation.
DC Motor ControlUse PWM to control motion.
Complex MotionLearn all about subroutines.
Analog to DigitalLearn how to convert analog data to digital.
Obstacle AvoidanceUse real world data to make computer decisions.
Basic MechanicsLearn why certain mechanical designs are used.
Daily DemonstrationsWalking, Talking, Emotional, robots

Requirements:

This class will require typing skills and basic computer understanding. We may at times need to use a soldering iron and other hand tools with the potential of causing some physical harm. Basic skills and responsibilies are a must. As a general rule, children should be 12 or older. Feel free to contact us to discuss your childs abilites.

Since you get to keep your creation, we will need to have a material fee of $100 to cover the cost of all the parts to create a PIC controlled robot and the needed text.
